The world economy will recover but not immediately. In the meantime Ireland’s best prospects lie in incentivising our domestic economy and securing as much as possible of such foreign direct investment as still exists. We have succeeded spectacularly to date through our low corporation tax rate. But in times dominated by losses we need to consider if our loss relief rules could be enhanced to provide a fiscal stimulus to companies.
