New role created at IBI
Ted Webb has been appointed as the first managing director for private companies at IBI Corporate Finance, reflecting the growing volume of work being undertaken by IBI in respect of privately-owned companies.
Webb will head a team of 13 corporate finance professionals based in offices in Dublin and Belfast. The private companies’ team focuses on traditional mergers and acquisitions advisory services, as well as specialised transactions in areas such as private equity and construction/property transactions.

New managing partner at BCM Hanby Wallace
Paul McGennis has been appointed managing partner of BCM Hanby Wallace Solicitors, succeeding Gary Byrne who has led the firm for the past four years.
McGennis qualified as a solicitor in 1988 and became a partner in the firm in 1993. He practices in commercial property development and bank lending. BCM Hanby Wallace has grown rapidly in recent years, and the firm now employs more than 100 solicitors, up from 27 in 2000.

Changes at HML
HML, a provider of systems and process outsourcing solutions to the mortgage sector, has announced some personnel changes at its Derry office. Mel Smith, formerly head of Prudential’s policyholder service centre in Belfast has been appointed as portfolio director, Ireland. Smith will be responsible for service delivery and the efficient functioning of HML’s Irish business operations, and will play a key role in the development of HML’s activities in Ireland, both north and south of the border.

Fahey joins AIB Investment Managers
Ollie Fahey has joined AIB Investment Managers as the new head of pensions marketing. Fahey was previously head of client relationships with Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM), having spent 20 years working with ILIM in various client relationship roles.

New MD at Hibernian
Dermot Browne has been appointed managing director of Hibernian Life & Pensions, where he will lead the Hibernian Life and Ark Life businesses.
Browne has joined Hibernian from Eagle Star Life Assurance Company, where he most recently held the position of director of sales, marketing and information technology. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and began his career with KPMG (SKC). Browne joined Eagle Star in 1990, and he has held a variety of roles within the company including group financial controller and director of finance and information technology, prior to taking responsibility for distribution in 2002. He will take up his new position early in 2007.
