Irish law firms were amongst the top legal advisers for global debt capital deals in the first three quarters of 2006, indicating the buoyancy of this market in Ireland.
Statistics compiled by Thomson Financial show that Arthur Cox, A&L Goodbody and Matheson Ormsby Prentice featured very strongly in the top ten league tables for a number of categories.
Matheson Ormsby Prentice advised the sixth highest number of international debt deals by issuer, in the first three quarters of the year, with its 58 deals pushing the firm up eight places from its rank of 14th for the same period in 2005.
Similarly, Arthur Cox and A&L Goodbody also dramatically improved their fortunes this year. When looked at by deal volume, Arthur Cox was the seventh largest issuer legal adviser, with A&L Goodbody in 11th place. For the same period last year, Arthur Cox ranked 102nd, while A&L Goodbody was in 46th place.
For securitisations, Irish firms were also very prominent. Arthur Cox ranked second by number of deals, and fourth by deal volume. For collateralised debt obligations (CDOs) Matheson Ormsby Prentice took the top spot by deal number, advising issuers on 51 deals. |
