Paul Atkins, SEC Commissioner with responsiblity for external affairs, is to speak at the forthcoming Eighth Annual Finance Dublin Conference 2007, which will be held on March 26th and 27th. Atkins' 22 year career has focused on the financial services industry and securities regulation, since his appointment as Commissioner in 2002. He has been identified as being against attempts to over-regulate hedge funds, force mutual fund boards to have independent chairmen, and promise investors that the best prices will be protected when they buy or sell stock. | Paul Atkins |
Atkins will be joined at the two-day event by his European counterpart, Internal Markets Commmissioner Charlie McCreevy, who has also espoused the belief that the industry should not be subject to stifling regulation. Bob Wigley, chairman EMEA, Merrill Lynch and recent appointee to the Court of Directors of the Bank of England, will join Atkins and McCreevy in a discussion on transatlantic capital markets issues.
The conference will focus on North Atlantic Capital Markets/Financial Services issues, covering major themes, including reporting, markets regulation, banking regulation and capital, and reinsurance and solvency. The conference will be held in Dublin Castle (www.financedublin.com/conference/2007) on 26th and 27th March 2007. |
