Bank of Ireland (BOI) is establishing a London based syndications team, in response to BOI’s growing role in the UK and European leveraged finance markets. Peter Mullen, formerly director of loan syndications with Soci?t? G?n?rale in the UK, has been hired by BOI as UK head of leveraged syndications, and will head up the new team.
The syndication team, which will have a pan-European brief, will continue to build upon BOI’s experience to date with the European private equity community, John O’Connor, head of acquisition finance with BOI told FINANCE, and will focus on the middle market sponsor backed pan-European leveraged transactions.
According to O’Connor, ‘the syndications team will also work closely with BOI’s established origination teams in Europe (London, Paris, Frankfurt) to ensure successful syndication of leveraged transactions, and they will focus on maintaining existing and building new relationships with sponsors, banks, funds and other investors’.
‘As we move increasingly towards leading our own transactions it an integral part of that is a syndication capability and thus the establishment of the team. It is driven by growth in our pan-European lead arrangement business in the leveraged finance space,’ he added. |
