Dublin’s new law quarter Back
Mason Hayes & Curran has become the first Irish law firm to move its headquarters to Dublin’s Grand Canal Quay area, having moved in on April 18th.

The firm, which employs over 200 people, is consolidating its three existing premises -on Leeson Street and Fitzwilliam Square - by moving to a purpose built nine-storey building on Barrow Street, in the revitalised South Dublin Docklands area.

The area has so far attracted many of the top legal firms in the country, with Dillon Eustace set to shortly move into its new headquarters on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. In this month’s Day in the Life feature on page 14, David Dillon managing partner of Dillon Eustace, discusses his firm’s impending move.

Dillon Eustace’s new headquarters will be close to ‘top 4’ firm McCann Fitzgerald’s new 11,000m? building, Riverside 1. McCann Fitzgerald is expected to make the move across the river from its existing premises in the north docklands area, sometime over the coming months.

Moreover, another ‘top 4’ firm, Matheson Ormbsy Prentice, confirmed in December that it is to move its headquarters from its existing premises on Herbert Street, to the Forbes Quay development, also on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay.

Beauchamps Solicitors, with 500 people, is also set to move to this area of Dublin, and William Fry is also expected to move from Fitzwilton House to this emerging area.

When completed, Grand Canal Harbour will be the biggest development on the southside of the Docklands, and will have around 1,500 apartments, and 63,000 sq m of commercial space.

Some industry commentators believe that as a result of the interest in the southside docks area, rents across the river in the old docklands area may have to be revised.
