Speakers at the annual conference of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, which took place in October, emphasised that the burden of compliance should be rebalanced.
Their message was that consideration should be given by the appropriate authorities, when adding new regulations in important areas, to reducing that burden elsewhere so that the overall cost on companies might be reduced.
As part of a simplification of corporate law, a call was made for the consolidation and overhaul of the Companies Acts. The Conference was attended by 80 delegates and was addressed by Maurice O’Connell, the Governor of the Central Bank.
