Solicitor Sonja Price of the property practice of William Fry is begins a two year secondment at the PPP unit of the Department of Finance in December. Price will be a legal resource to the Department in putting in place the structures to implement pilot PPP projects and the PPP elements of the National Development Plan announced in November. Her move to Merrion Street is a signal of the beefing up of the PPP unit.
The Department of Finance welcomed the secondment of Price to the Department and, in particular, to the PPP Unit. It said that the development and co-ordination of the PPP process was a key objective for the Department. The direct involvement of Price's 'particular expertise' in the work of the PPP unit 'is an important development' the Department said, and it would 'greatly assist' the Department in its work.
In a further development, the Department confirmed that recruitment of a PPP project specialist is 'at an advanced stage'.
The PPP Unit currently consists of Jim O'Brien, Ray O'Leary, Colm Lavery and Ciara McCann.
