The New Zealand Stock Exchange has become the first in the Asia Pacific region to host direct market access trades using wireless application protocol (WAP). The NZSE WAP application will allow clients to trade and transfer securities without passing through a broker by using WAP telephones and an internet service provider (ISP). According to the Exchange, trades will often see same day settlement.
When contacted by Finance, Hilary Griffey, spokesperson for the Irish Stock Exchange said that WAP trading was a long way off in Ireland. ‘The Irish Stock Exchange has no plans to implement such facilities, nor are we aware of any other exchange in Europe having such plans’, she said. |
