| ABN AMRO head endorses Dublin |

A former star of Finance’s annual Stockbroking Survey, Joe Gill of ABN AMRO, has been appointed head of equity sales of the European Network of ABN AMRO, Europe’s third largest investment bank. The position involves responsibility for equity sales teams in the group’s ten European offices.
Joe has been responsible for research marketing in the European network since he transferred to the London office in July 1999. Prior to that, he was head of equity sales in Ireland. He also retains responsibility for ABN AMRO’s Company Marketing Service, which provides access by corporates to ABN AMRO’s institutional client base.
On the equity sales picture Joe said ‘Pan-Euro equity assets under management by non-UK European institutions has trebled in the last three years to exceed $1.2 trillion. We expect that momentum to be maintained as a growing equity culture, corporate restructuring and privatisations take hold across Europe.
On the development of Dublin as an international asset management centre, Joe is also enthusiastic. ‘The emergence of large asset managers in Dublin, such as Europlus and Susquehanna, is propelling Dublin up the ranks of fund management centres. Funds administration and back-office operations in Ireland are now being followed by front-office activities. The foundations are in place to build a competitive global fund management community in Ireland.
ABN AMRO services over one hundred institutional equity fund management groups in Europe. Highlights in its Equities Division during the last quarter included acting as joint global co-ordinator for Granada Media (market capitalisation stg?9 billion) and EADS - European Aerospace and Defense Systems (market capitalisation ?14 billion). In the past year, over five hundred companies have used ABN AMRO’s Company Marketing Service to meet institutional investors across Europe. |
