BDO Simpson Xavier and Hargaden Moor merge to create sixth largest entity Back  
Two of Ireland’s leading accountancy practices, BDO Simpson Xavier and Hargaden Moor have merged in a move that consolidates BDO Simpson Xavier’s position as the sixth largest accountancy firm in Ireland.

Following the merger turnover at the combined firm will be in excess of ?30 million and staff numbers in Ireland will rise to more than 550. According to Finance’s 2001 Accountancy Survey, the new entity should garner eight per cent of the Irish market for accountancy services, which is close in size to Andersen.

The new entity will be known as BDO Simpson Xavier and all 40 of Hargaden Moor’s staff are expected to remain.

The founding partner of Hargaden Moor, Mr. Michael Hargaden will be joining BDO Simpson Xavier as a consultant, while David Hargaden, managing partner with Hargaden Moor will be joining the management board of BDO Simpson Xavier.

Hargaden Moor is a Dublin based chartered accountancy firm, and has been in business for almost 30 years.

With widespread experience in advising entrepreneurial clients such as MyHome.ie, Hargaden Moor is seen as a good match for BDO Simpson Xavier which is a leading adviser to growth oriented companies.

Following the announcement Anthuan Xavier, managing partner at BDO Simpson Xavier, said ‘This merger will enhance the services we can provide to clients of both firms and will also provide opportunities for staff of both firms who will now operate as part of one of the largest financial and business advisory firms in Ireland.’

The new entity will move to new premises at Beaux Lane House, off St. Stephen’s Green next summer.
