Current responsibilities: Managing a team responsible for the origination and execution of a range of corporate advisory mandates including mergers, acquisitions, disposals and fundraisings for clients in the public, private and semi-state sectors.
Education: Second level: PBC Cork.
Other qualifications: F.C.A.
Professional memberships: Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and Member of the Securities Institute.
Career progress: I worked in KPMG Cork for over nine years and qualified as a chartered accountant with them in 1990. During that time I was engaged primarily in audit and accountancy work for a range of clients, including Waterford Foods. I joined NCB Corporate Finance in 1996 and was appointed a Director in 2000. I am currently responsible for a team focusing primarily on obtaining mandates in the utilities (electricity, gas, environmental, waste, roads and ports) sector. A sample of my clients has included Valentia Telecommunications on its •3 billion acquisition of eircom, renewable electricity company airtricity on its recent •15 million fundraising, Dublin Port on a recent acquisition, Deutsche Telekom on the Irish component of its Global Retail Offering and Waterford Foods on its merger with Avonmore Foods.
Personal: Dob: 1 May 1967; Place: Cork.
Social & sporting memberships: Hibernian Golf Club and Westwood Club.
Interests: Music, travel and all sports, particularly golf, soccer and cricket.
Recommended books: ‘Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don’t’ by Jim Collins. An essential non-business book for all fans of cricket is the annual ‘Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack’.
