FS partner joins Deloitte
Brian Forrester has joined Deloitte as partner within its financial services group. Forrester will predominately provide audit and assurance support to clients in the investment management industry, an area in which he has gained extensive experience in London, the Cayman Islands, the Channel Islands and Dublin.

He brings 15 years assurance experience with him to the role, the last 12 being in the financial services industry. He joins the firm from Kinetic Partners, a specialist investment management professional services firm, where he was a partner in their audit and assurance team. Before joining Kinetic Partners, Forrester worked in the investment management group of another Big 4 firm.

De Proft new DG at EFAMA
Peter De Proft will take over the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) secretariat from Steffen Matthias in early 2008.

De Proft (53), was previously CEO of Fortis Investments Belgium, and joins the EFAMA team as Director General. At the beginning of 2008, Matthias will step down as Secretary General and hand over the secretariat to De Proft. Matthias (62), who set up and has been
in charge of the EFAMA secretariat since 1990, will continue serving EFAMA as Senior Advisor.

New partners at Mazars
Accountancy, audit, business and taxation advisory firm Mazars has appointed
Tommy Doherty and Tom O’Brien as Partners in the firm.

Doherty has been appointed partner in Mazars’ corporate division. He joined Mazars as a director in 2006 and specialises in the delivery of audit and related assurance services to many large corporate clients. O’Brien has been appointed Partner in the enterprise division. He joined Mazars in 2000 and was appointed a Director in 2004.

TSI expands with Dublin general manager
Trade Settlement Inc. (TSI) has announced the expansion of Trade Settlement Europe Ltd. (TSEL) and the appointment of Stuart Biggar as general manager of its Dublin office.

Biggar has 20 years experience with Merrill Lynch International Bank Ltd., having worked in all facets of post-trade operations in loan trading. Most recently, he served as loan administration manager at Merrill and has previously worked in such areas as derivatives settlement and service management.

New Collins Stewart team
A fund management unit is to be opened in Dublin by stockbroker Collins Stewart. The firm has hired Ivan Fox, former executive at Bank of Ireland Asset Management, to set up the new business. The operation is expected to target assets of at leat €100 million in the medium term. The Dublin office will be Collins Stewart's third fund management operation, alonside London and the Channel Islands.

Treble signing for AIB
Nick Treble, managing director, AIB Global Treasury, has been appointed AIB Group chief risk officer (CRO) and a member of the AIB Group Executive Committee (GEC). He will take up his new post at the end of the year on the retirement of current AIB CRO and GEC member Shom Bhattacharya. Mr Treble, aged 48, joined AIB in 1982 as a trainee dealer in Allied Irish Investment Bank, London.

AWAS appoints CIO
John Nozell has been appointed chief investment officer of AWAS, the aircraft leasing company. Nozell will be responsible for managing AWAS’s portfolio strategy and investment decisions.
Nozell joins AWAS from Cornell University where he held the position of senior lecturer in Finance with the prestigious Johnson Graduate School of Management in Cornell University, New York. He also served as executive vice president Finance & Operations for Advion Biosciences, a rapidly growing life sciences instrument and research company.

Assurant Solutions appoints new director
Drazen Jaksic has been appointed sales and marketing director for Ireland and the UK for insurance product specialist, Assurant Solutions.

Jaksic will be responsible for identifying relevant market opportunities that support the corporate strategy as well as the acquisition, maintenance and development of the client portfolio. This will include overseeing the research and development of new product introductions and enhancements to meet the needs of customers.

Jaksic joins Assurant from Prudential where he spent the last three years as head of relationship management and account development director. He was responsible for developing new and managing existing corporate clients.
