KPMG's Funds & Fund Management Survey 2007 |
Back |
The 2007 edition of KPMG's Funds and Fund Management survey has just been launched. The survey provides an up to date overview of the accounting, regulatory and taxation regime for investment management in 68 countries. |
The existing survey is now in its seventeenth year and has been fully updated to take account of changes and developments in each jurisdiction. There have been huge changes in the funds industry since we produced the first edition in 1990. No change over that period has been bigger than the emergence of hedge funds as a major segment of the market. To reflect this, we have included a new section within this year's survey dealing exclusively with hedge funds and providing an up to date overview of the regulation and taxation regime for hedge funds. The first edition of this Hedge Funds survey covers the top 20 jurisdictions for Hedge Funds.
The 2007 edition highlights again the differing regulatory and tax treatment of investment funds across the EU and emphasises the challenge facing the EU commission in seeking to make a truly level playing field for investment funds across Europe.
The Hedge Fund Survey shows the diverse approaches by different jurisdictions to the issues of the taxation and regulation of hedge funds and their managers. The surveys are produced by KPMG Ireland and are based on the input from KPMG's investment management industry specialists around the world. It is tangible proof of how we at KPMG work together seamlessly across function and jurisdiction to deliver value to our clients.
The production of these key publications by KPMG Ireland is testament to the central position KPMG's Irish practice has within the KPMG's Global Investment Management Practice. This position was further enhanced last year when Paul McGowan, who heads up KPMG Ireland's investment management tax practice, was appointed KPMG's Global Investment Management Tax Leader. |
