FSI chair to be next Irish Life CEO
Denis Casey is to succeed David Went as group chief executive of Irish Life & Permanent plc, following Went’s retirement in May of next year.
Chairman of industry association, Financial Services Ireland, Casey was appointed to the board of Irish Life & Permanent plc in 2000, and is currently chief executive of permanent tsb Bank; the banking arm of the group. He was formerly chief executive of Irish Life (Retail) [1999 to 2005], the retail life and pensions arm of the group. A certified accountant, Casey joined what was then Irish Life in 1980 .
Furlong appointed MD at First Active
Colm Furlong has been appointed managing director of First Active, with responsibility for all mortgage, savings and investment operations under the First Active brand in Ireland.
Prior to this appointment, Furlong worked as director of sales and service in Ulster Bank’s business and commercial banking division. Prior to joining Ulster Bank, Furlong worked with permanenttsb in a number of senior positions.
New partners at Mason Hayes+Curran
Business law firm, Mason Hayes+Curran, has appointed six new partners, Helen Noble, William Carmody, Jeanne Kelly, Tanya Colbert, Melanie Crowley and Martin Kelleher.
Helen Noble is a partner practising within the litigation group with a focus on shipping/off-shore litigation and international commercial dispute resolution; William Carmody has been appointed a partner in the finance services group and his practice areas include financing and funding of tax incentive based projects, construction financing, acquisition financing and advising on Irish law issues in multi-jurisdictional transactions; Jeanne Kelly is a partner in the commercial group and has worked in the intellectual property and information technology unit of another Irish firm; Tanya Colbert is a new partner in the group specialising in commercial litigation and, in particular, construction and property related litigation; Melanie Crowley is a partner involved in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law on both the employer and employee side; Martin Kelleher has been appointed a partner in the corporate group and is head of life sciences.
New CFO at Depfa
Depfa Bank has appointed Angus Cameron as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and Member of the Executive Committee, following the resignation of Reinhard Grzesik.
Cameron joins Depfa from his position as CFO at Bank of New York Europe, where he has been working for the past two years. Previously, he was global CFO at CNA Insurance and held a number of senior finance roles at Scottish Widows and Barclays Bank.
Grzesik served as CFO for the past 10 years, and was instrumental in the relocation of the bank’s head office from Frankfurt to Dublin. He is due to return to Germany with his family to pursue personal interests. |
