Candidates with international experience are sought after |
Back |
Candidates with good exposure to new financial products, and who have worked overseas in global investment banks, are highly sought-after in the current recruitment market, as the Irish market requires innovative investment solutions. Professionals with solid experience in trading or fund management are also highly sought-after, according to Robert Walters’ annual salary survey 2006. |
The Finance Dublin Yearbook 2005 showed that over 1,000 jobs were created in Ireland’s international financial services sector in 2004, and indications are that growth was even higher than this in 2005.
According to Robert Walters’ 2006 annual salary survey, the fund administration sector filled over 1,000 vacancies in 2005, and it expects further growth to continue in 2006.
Fund administration
Candidates at all levels from graduates to senior managers are in demand. The recruitment market is expanding as companies are continuing to win accounts who in turn need staff to service them.
Fund accountants, shareholder services and corporate actions professionals are particularly in demand and will be for the foreseeable future. Clients have dramatically improved their in-house training functions, say Robert Walters, to educate their staff to meet market pressures.
Banking
2005 saw a buoyant year in the Dublin banking market. During the year Robert Walters experienced increased levels of recruitment in most banks and financial institutions although many companies faced problems filling vacancies due to a candidate short market. This drove salaries up very early in the year and we experienced an increase on last years figures by 5 per cent in early spring. Employers had to revise their salary budgets to ensure they kept essential staff.
Candidates with good exposure to new financial products are highly sought-after as the Irish market requires innovative investment solutions. On the international level, candidates who have worked overseas in global investment banks are in high demand.
In 2005 we saw large global investment banks migrate mid and back office functions to Dublin to supplement the fund services that they are offering. Subsequently, candidates with good skill sets in operations and back office have been in high demand.
Candidates with solid experience in trading or fund management have also been highly sought-after.
Derivatives experience is in high demand in both front and back office capacities. The bond market in Dublin has been buoyant and credit analysts have been in high demand across corporate, institutional and financial institutions. |
