The European Commission put out a tender on August 4th for a study of the economic effects of the value-added tax exemption for financial and insurance services. According to the commission, the report will help member states to modernise existing VAT provisions.
According to the Commission, the study ‘aims to provide evidence of the inefficiency of the current system and to identify options to remove it without calling the exemption-based approach into question’.
