<The conference will hear over forty speakers on the key issues facing the IFSC and the financial services industry.
Over forty speakers will address the conference, which will be opened by the Minister for Finance Brian Cowen, with an address on the IFS sector. Also speaking will be Charlie McCreevy, EU Commissioner for the Internal Market. Dr Daniel Mitchell, the Washington based Heritage Foundation’s foremost authority on international taxation matters, will speak on Ireland in international and EU context. The Heritage Foundation publishes the annual ‘Freedom Index’ in conjunction with the Wall Street Journal. The 2005 Freedom Index, published in January this year puts Ireland at fifth position globally.
The conference will also have two major segments, overviewing the scenario for banking and treasury, funds, and insurance, by the Chairmen of the Taoiseach’s Clearing House Committees, as well as a Taxation panel involving the leading financial services tax advisers of the four largest accountancy firms.
The IDA-commissioned Deloitte Report will also be examined in a major discussion representing disparate groups from the IFSC, and a panel discussion dealing with the report, as well as the debate on regulation.
Three case studies will be presented of IFS companies, Hartford, Pioneer Alternative Investments and Susquehanna will be presented, while there will be two specialist Seminars on fast growing new product areas - an Introduction to Hedge Funds Management and Administration, and An Introduction to Credit Derivatives.
