Current responsibilities: Currently engaged in the integration of First Active plc and Ulster Bank. Also a director of all the special purpose securitisation companies used as financing vehicles for First Active.

Education: Third level: (UCC: B. Comm. 1990. UCD: Dip. Prof. Accounting. 1991); Second level: (Sacred Heart College, Carraig Na Bhfear, Co. Cork).

Other qualifications: (Qualified as a chartered accountant in 1993).

Professional memberships: Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and student member of the UK Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Career progress: I joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in October 1991 and I spent over four years with the firm. I joined the finance department of First National Building Society in March 1996 where I worked on the first securitisation transaction together with all of the reporting to the Central Bank of Ireland and Bank of England.
I then spent over two years working exclusively on all the financial aspects of the conversion and IPO of First Active. I then moved to the internal audit department where I spent one year.

In April 2000 I moved to the treasury department as structured finance manager and I became head of debt capital markets in February 2001. In July 2001 I was appointed director of the securitisation companies used as financing vehicles for First Active. During my time in treasury I have been involved in (i) the completion of a number of securitisation transactions, (ii) the establishment of a medium-term note and a European commercial paper programme, (iii) the completion of a subordinated debt capital issue, (iv) the completion of a syndicated loan, (v) putting a mortgage backed promissory note programme in place, (vi) significantly increasing the credit available from the international money markets to First Active by introducing it to many banks and investors throughout Europe.

I represent Ulster Bank on the Irish Asset Covered Securities steering committee. In 2003 I worked on a number of aspects of the acquisition of First Active by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and I am currently engaged in the integration of Ulster Bank and First Active.
