HHedge fund professionals are once more in demand this month, with the news that UBS, the Swiss banking group and a key player in the global hedge fund market, is to open a Dublin based hedge fund operation, UBS Fund Services (Ireland) Ltd.
The operation, which will be headed up by Mark Mannion, formerly of PFPC International, will open in July with an initial workforce of 6-10 people. This is expected to grow quickly to 30-40.
BISYS Hedge Fund Services (Ireland), which plans to recruit 40 people over the course of 2004 according to the latest edition of the Finance Dublin Yearbook, is also currently recruiting for eight positions three in its fund accounting department, three in its centralised processing group, and two in its shareholder services group.
Also recruiting for hedge fund professionals is BNP Paribas Group, which is looking for a hedge fund accountant for its fund administration department. Interested candidates should have a minimum of three years fund accounting experience, two of which must be in hedge funds.
In the wider funds market, JP Morgan is looking to hire staff for its investor services business in Dublin and Edinburgh in areas such as fund accounting, administration, client services, custody, shareholder services and trustee services. INVESCO, the Dublin subsidiary of AMVESCAP, provides transfer agency, investment and administration support for INVESCO’s range of offshore and onshore funds. The company is currently looking to hire fund accountants with one/two years experience.
FOREX trading
Market Traders Institute (MTI) Europe, the FOREX training company, is looking to hire an experienced spot trader for its operation in Derry. The company, which provides FOREX training and education, live interactive online trading, and ongoing technical support and trader mentoring, is looking to hire a trader with a minimum of five years experience trading Spot FX for a recognised financial institution.
Legal professionals
FINANCE understands that Maire O’Connor, who is a partner in Ernst & Young’s investment funds regulatory and stock exchange listing department, and is a former head of the Taoiseach’s IFSC Funds Group, is to join McCann Fitzgerald, and will bring her team with her. Also, David Lawless, a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers specialising in investment management, securitisation, and asset finance/repackaging is to join Dillion Eustace.
Finance
McInerney Holdings plc, one of Ireland’s largest development companies, with listings on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges is looking to hire a group finance director. The company is looking for a qualified accountant with five years experience at financial controller level.
Another plc, Kingspan Group, which is also quoted on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges, is also recruiting for staff for its finance function a group head of internal audit, a divisional head of finance, and newly qualified accountants.
A key attraction of the aforementioned positions would be the possibility of receiving stock options as remuneration.
Treasury
Tyco International Finance Ireland, which is the standalone treasury operation of the diversified global manufacturing company, is looking to fill several positions in its Dublin operation, which currently employs around six people.
The senior treasury manager will be responsible for assisting in the development of new cash management structures across Europe, and there will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to become involved with other activities including cash investment, external debt and securitisation.
Tyco is also looking to hire 2 senior treasury analysts, one treasury analyst, and one financial analyst.
