The theme of the conference was ‘Utilising the Irish franchise to grow your company’s operations’ aand there was also be a special half day session ‘A European vision for global financial services’ attended by the leading policy makers of the EU union, as well as trade financial services press and members of the financial services industry associations.
The colloquium promoted an Irish vision of financial services development in the EU which will seek to promote a debate on the agenda of the next stage of the single market after the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) this year, and which can facilitate the further development of the IFSC and Ireland’s international financial services (IFS) industry. The overall conference theme, ‘Utilising the Irish franchise to grow your company?s operations was highlighted through a number of case studies on companies who have successfully done so, including Burdon Capital, Hypo Real Estate Bank International, San Paolo Life, Scotia Capital and BISYS Hedge Fund Services. Other speakers from Merrill Lynch, UniCredito and Northern Trust along with the leading regulatory and tax authorities in Ireland will provide speakers with a state-of-the-art assessment of the key issues in the Irish international financial services industry. Topics covered included the new regulatory framework, the opportunities that the new headquarter tax regime will offer, and the new pension pooling vehicle. |
