What Ireland can do for your IFS company - star studded lineup at Ireland's premier financial services conference at end of March Back  
Alexander Schaub, (photo) Director General for the Internal Market at the European Commission, David Wright, Director, Directorate - Financial Markets, Internal Market, EU Commission, Charlie McCreevy, Minister for Finance and Michael Buckley, Group Chief Executive, AIB Group were among the star studded line up of over 30 speakers who addressed the 5th Annual Finance Dublin Conference on 30-31st March 2004.

The theme of the conference was ‚€ėUtilising the Irish franchise to grow your company‚€ôs operations‚€;ô and there was also be a special half day session ‚€ėA European vision for global financial services‚€ô attended by the leading policy makers of the EU union, as well as trade financial services press and members of the financial services industry associations.

The colloquium promoted an Irish vision of financial services development in the EU which will seek to promote a debate on the agenda of the next stage of the single market after the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) this year, and which can facilitate the further development of the IFSC and Ireland‚€ôs international financial services (IFS) industry. The overall conference theme, ‚€ėUtilising the Irish franchise to grow your company√≠s operations was highlighted through a number of case studies on companies who have successfully done so, including Burdon Capital, Hypo Real Estate Bank International, San Paolo Life, Scotia Capital and BISYS Hedge Fund Services. Other speakers from Merrill Lynch, UniCredito and Northern Trust along with the leading regulatory and tax authorities in Ireland will provide speakers with a state-of-the-art assessment of the key issues in the Irish international financial services industry. Topics covered included the new regulatory framework, the opportunities that the new headquarter tax regime will offer, and the new pension pooling vehicle.
