Career progress: Olwyn joined PwC in 1991. Following qualification as a Chartered Accountant, she progressed to senior manager in the PwC Dublin Funds Pratice. She works on a large variety of international investment funds and alternative investment structures. She spearheaded the establishment of the PwC Hedge Funds practice in PwC Dublin which involves advising some of the world’s largest hedge funds and securitisations. She is also responsible for new business and marketing our Groups’ capabilities to new and potential clients in Ireland and overseas.
Special Projects: Olwyn has been involved with the DFIA on the Alternative Investments Committee as well as representing the firm at AIMA meetings.
Awards: Olwyn was recently awarded the CFA Charter, a highly prestigious global accreditation recognising the highest level of investment knowledge and expertise.
Personal: Date of Birth:14 December, 1969; Place of Birth: Dublin, Ireland; Family: Widowed, my late husband, Maitin Breathnach was a partner in the firm. Parents - Colm and Mary, Siblings - Karl, David and Helen. Sister in law, Grainne Alexander.
Social and sporting: Horse riding and showjumping. Swimming.
Interests: Keeping fit, cooking, reading and travelling.
Recommended Books: Business: ‘Liar’s Poker’ by Michael Lewis and ‘When Genius Failed : The Rise and Fall of Long-Term Capital Management,’ by Roger Lewinstein - great insights into the investment management world. Non-business: ‘Into Thin Air’ by Jon Krakauer - a truly inspirational book about the phenomenal human drive to achieve in the face of adversity. |
