Drop in number of insider dealing complaints in 2000 Back
The ‘2000 Insider Dealing Annual Report’ of the ISE reveals that four written complaints were received in relation to alleged breaches of Part V (Insider Dealing) of the Companies Act, 1990. This is a decrease from last year, when 6 complaints were made.

The chief executive of the ISE made no reports to the Director of Public Prosecutions, in his capacity as a relevant authority in respect of a suspected breach of Part V (Insider dealing). Two reports were made by the chief executive last year.

Commenting on the report Noel Treacy, T.D., Minister for Science, Techn ology and Commerce, said ‘As I have previously indicated, our department has been examining the possibility of requiring additional information on instances of insider dealing offences be made available. We are concluding our examination of the various issues involved, in an area of interest to all investors on the Stock Exchange. The new regime however, will not be such as to curtail the examination by the Director of Public Prosecutions of breaches referred to him by the exchange. I would hope to bring such requirements into law later this year.’
