Career Progress: Following a year lecturing in Waterford RTC in 1987, I joined the accountancy firm BDO in Limerick and in 1990 moved to Price Waterhouse where I specialised in insurance for 4 years. In 1996 I joined Norwich Union in Dublin and revamped the Group Internal Audit function. I moved on to be Financial Controller of the Norwich Union Life and Pensions (NUL&P) in 1997 and in 1999 was given responsibility for Strategic Development. Following the merger of Norwich and CGU I was appointed Group Head of Integration and Special Projects which gave me responsibility for the merger as it related to the Irish Group of Companies. Earlier this year I took up my current position with Prudential.
Special Projects: Reorganisation and update of Finance department in NUL&P to enable it to deliver plc standard reporting and management information. Responsible for projects to improve service delivery in both Pensions and Life Assurance Operations departments in NUL&P. Responsible for Euro project in NUL&P. Most recently, I am turning my attention to a state of the art financial framework for Prudential Europe, allowing pricing of product manufacture and service provision on a basis which fits into the product pricing structure of insurance companies and avoids the need for those companies to manage cost overruns.
