Career progress: 1974- trainee chartered accountant, Deloittes; 1978- audit manager, Duignan & Co, chartered accountants; 1982 - relationship manager and then head of corporate banking, First National Bank of Chicago; 1985- Marketing manager and then assistant general manager marketing and business operations, ICS Building Society; 1990- head of strategic marketing, Bank of Ireland retail division; 1992 Head of competitive positioning, Bank of Ireland Group; 1995 - managing director, ICS Building Society and general manager Bank of Ireland Mortgage Business; 2000- chief executive designate, EBS Building Society; 2001 - chief executive, EBS Building Society.
