Current responsibilities: Lead M&A partner in PwC Corporate Finance, focusing on mergers, acquisitions, disposals and finance raising. Member of the PwC European M&A Executive. PwC Corporate Finance, which is one of Ireland’s leading corporate finance houses, also advises on corporate valuations, business strategy and public private partnerships.

Education: Third level: University College Dublin, B. Comm., 1967; Second level: St. Paul’s College, Raheny.

Other qualifications: Chartered Accountant

Professional memberships: Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Career progress: Joined PricewaterhouseCoopers (then Craig Gardner & Co) from University in 1967 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1970. Worked as an audit manager in Price Waterhouse London and Boston before being appointed an audit partner in Dublin in 1980. Established the firm’s corporate finance practice in 1985. In recent years, have advised the vendors on some of Ireland’s largest indigenous deals including the sale of Doyle Hotels to Jurys (•323m) and the sale of TSB Bank to Irish Life & Permanent (•430m).

Personal: Date of birth: 29 November 1947; Place of birth: Dublin; Family: married Jane in 1991; 2 children - Hugh and Sarah.

Social & sporting memberships: Portmarnock and Powerscourt Golf Clubs, Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club.

Interests: golf, skiing, reading, the kids.
