New financial services institute for IFSC Back
A new institute designed to deliver educational and training services to the IFSC is to be established by the National College of Ireland (NCI) in March 2003.

The International Financial Services Institute (IFSI), located at the NCI’s new docklands campus, will act as a centre of excellence, providing state-of-the-art services in financial skills and human resources as well as research and other facilities.

The institute will incorporate distance learning techniques and possibly regional centres of delivery.
Professor Joyce O’Connor, president of NCI, said, ‘An IDA supported study by PriceWaterhouseCoopers of industry attitudes to education and training needs found very strong support for the concept of the IFSI.’
Similar specialist financial education initiatives in both Luxembourg and Edinburgh have been set up and it is planned that IFSI will deliver its services to overseas markets as well.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD, will welcome the first intake of students on September 9th 2003.
