EU Commissioner Hill to speak at Dublin FIBI Conference    
The “Next steps to build a Capital Markets Union”– the first high-level public event following the public consultation period on the Commission's Green Paper on CMU is the subject of the keynote address at the 2015 FederatIon of International Banks in Ireland conference by Jonathan Hill, the EU Commissioner responsible for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union. Also speaking are FIBI Chairman Jonathon Lowey, and Simon Harris, Minister of State at the Department of Finance. Their presentations will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Finance Dublin Editor Ken O’Brien. The panelists will be Brian Hayes, MEP; 
 Sally Dewar, EMEA Head of Regulatory Affairs, JP Morgan;
 Brian Daly, Tax Partner, KPMG;
 and Kevin Gardiner, Global Investment Strategist, Rothschild, the economist who coined the term ‘Celtic Tiger’ for Ireland in the mid 1990s.

Also speaking are FIBI Chairman Jonathon Lowey, Head of Finance at JP Morgan Ireland and Simon Harris, the Minister of State at the Department of Finance with Special Responsibility for International Banking.

With the theme "Strategically Positioning IFS", the conference will be seven days after the results of the Europe-wide consultation process on CMU in Brussels.

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on global competitiveness chaired by Finance Dublin Editor Ken O’Brien. The panelists will be Brian Hayes, MEP and member of the Economic & Monetary Affairs Committee;
 Sally Dewar, Managing Director, EMEA Head of Regulatory Affairs, JP Morgan; 
Brian Daly, Tax Partner, KPMG;
 and Kevin Gardiner, Global Investment Strategist, Rothschild, the economist who coined the term ‘Celtic Tiger’ in a 1994 Morgan Stanley report.

A second panel discussion will look at future trends & direction, chaired by Paul O’Connor, Head of Regulatory Advisory Services at KPMG. Panelists will include Neil Ryan, Assistant Secretary General at the Department of Finance; Alan Duffy, Chief Executive of HSBC Bank, Dublin Branch;
 Gerry Cross, Director of Policy & Risk at the Central Bank of Ireland, and Rossa White, Chief Economist at the NTMA. Both panel discussions will begin with individual five minute contributions from the panel members.

The conference is being held on Monday 15th June at the Marker Hotel, Dublin 2.
