Taoiseach launches 25th Anniversary edition of the Finance Dublin Yearbook 2012

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has launched the special anniversary edition of the Finance Dublin Yearbook, which this year marks the 25th anniversary of the IFSC, established in 1987. It profiles the achievements of the firms, sectors, organisations and people who have made the IFSC the success it is, with over 25,000 directly employed, and a platform for the Government's plan to add an extra 10,000 to that number.

In over 50 articles, Information Sections, indexes, and sector, and company profiles, the Yearbook profiles each of the the 500 plus businesses in financial services and international financial Professional Services, with specially updated profiles of all companies.

Leaders led by the Taoiseach, both in Ireland and globally, both in the industry and politics, have contributed to the publication, the nineteenth edition of the Finance Dublin Yearbook, which first tracked the evolution of the IFSC in its inaugural edition, published in 1992.

The IFSC is the most successful sectoral developmental initiative ever undertaken in Ireland, and 2012 marks the anniversary of a project that was initiated as an urban development project in 1987, but which culminated in a country-wide international financial services industry employing over 25,000 people directly, many thousands more indirectly, and in which assets valued at a total approaching three trillion euros are managed and watched over on a daily basis, said Ken O'Brien.

The latest figures for employment in the IFSC, compiled by Finance Dublin as part of its annual updating exercise for the Yearbook show that employment growth in the international financial services industry resumed in 2011, with job numbers up 1.9 per cent between the end of 2010 and 2011, to surpass 25,000 in the core financial services activities of the IFSC for the first time since 2007.

The 2012 Yearbook marks that achievement, a publication, which, at its heart, is the definitive showcase of the companies that make up what is known as the IFSC. Over 500 companies and services firms are independently profiled in this Yearbook, and, marking the 25th anniversary, each entry has been updated with detailed corporate profile and financial information, reflecting their history.

The publication reviews the events of recent years and, at a sectoral level, review the strengths and developments, in banking, asset management, investment funds administration, and custody, aircraft leasing, and insurance.
